The ADA Seal of Acceptance: What You Need to Know

The ADA Seal of Acceptance: What You Need to Know

If you are interested in knowing more about the American Dental Association’s seal of acceptance, our Pollary Family Dentistry team is thrilled to help you! The seal of acceptance is a small, green logo that is placed on oral hygiene products that have passed tests that evaluated for safety and effectiveness. The logo represents many things, but most of all, it means that that product is the best for your smile.

The ADA has been testing products since 1931 and it is still the gold standard to this day. In fact, this program has higher standards than the traditional law, and it does not accept any product that does not exceed those expectations. So, if you clean your smile with an ADA-approved product, your chompers will be safe and effectively cleaned.

Some products that the ADA frequently evaluates are:

· Toothbrushes

· Toothpastes

· Mouthwash, including plaque control, fluoride, and non-prescription rinse

· Flossing products

· Denture products, like denture cleaners and adhesives

· Teeth-whitening bleach

· Sports mouthguards

· Sugar-free gum that reduces cavities

· Temporary pain relievers

· Fluoride brush-on gel

· Water filters

· Emergency tooth preservation products
